Monogen is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision.

Monogen is a nutritionally complete low fat, whole whey protein powdered feed low in long chain triglycerides (LCT) and high in medium chain triglycerides (MCT).

For the dietary management of disorders requiring a low long chain triglyceride (LCT), high medium chain triglyceride (MCT) intake, such as long chain fatty acid oxidation defects (LCHADs), chylothorax and lymphangiectasia. Suitable as a sole source of nutrition for infants and as a supplementary feed for children over 1 year of age and adults.

Maltodextrin, skimmed cow's milk, refined vegetable oils (medium chain triglycerides (coconut and/or palm oil), walnut oil, sunflower oil), whey protein (from cow's milk), calcium caseinate (from cow's milk), sodium citrate, glucose syrup, potassium chloride, calcium carbonate, magnesium hydrogen phosphate, oil from Crypthecodinium cohnii, choline chloride, oil from Mortierella alpina, L-valine, inositol, L-ascorbic acid, L-tryptophan, sodium L-ascorbate, taurine, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, L-carnitine, DL-α-tocopheryl acetate, nicotinamide, DL-α-tocopherol, calcium D-pantothenate, copper sulphate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, retinyl acetate, thiamin hydrochloride, riboflavin, pteroylmonoglutamic acid, potassium iodide, manganese sulphate, chromium chloride, sodium molybdate, phytomenadione, D-biotin, sodium selenite, cholecalciferol.

Store in a cool dry place. Once opened, reseal can and use within one month.

 


Must be used under medical supervision. Not for parenteral use. Good dental hygiene is important for infants and children, as prolonged or frequent contact of drinks and feeds with teeth increases the risk of tooth decay. Make sure their teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night. Ask your Health or Dental Professional for advice. 

Preparation:

1. Boil fresh water for 5 minutes or until an electric kettle switches off and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes so that it feels warm to the wrist.

2. Pour the required amount of water into a sterilized feeding bottle.

3. Fill the scoop provided with powder and level off with a clean, dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop. Only use the scoop provided.

4. Add the prescribed number of scoops of powder to the water. Replace the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves. Before feeding ensure, that the product is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the wrist. 

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Breastfeeding is the best form of nutrition for babies and provides many benefits to both babies and mothers. The decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse and financial implications should be considered.
